PRANTIC’s Free Eye Camps Bring Vision to Communities in North Bengal
On September 13 and 15, 2025, Prantic Unnayan Society, with funding support from OBAT Canada, organized two free eye camps in Nilphamari Sadar Upazila and Parbatipur Upazila. A total of 218 patients received services across the two camps—152 in Nilphamari (78 male and 74 female) and 66 in Parbatipur (32 male and 34 female).
In Nilphamari, cataract surgeries were successfully performed on 32 patients (11 male and 21 female). From the Parbatipur camp, 29 cataract patients (18 male and 11 female) were referred to Rangpur Community Eye Care Hospital for free surgical treatment.
With the successful completion of these camps, PRANTIC has now accomplished 8 out of the 10 planned eye camps for 2025. Since 2022, PRANTIC has organized a total of 36 Eye Restoration Camps, providing 1,828 free cataract surgeries, 35 DCR surgeries, and 78 follow-up camps across 8 Upazilas in Rangpur Division.
