Water Access for Vulnerable Ethnic Groups (WAVE)
Prantic Unnayan Society (PRANTIC) is embarking on a challenging yet inspiring journey with the ethnic Tanchangya and Murang communities living more than 400 feet above the hills in Jaliapalong Union, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.
Reaching these remote settlements—locally known as “Chakma Para”—takes nearly two hours of trekking through steep hill tracks, streams, and waterfalls. These families, displaced from Kaptai in 2011, continue to live with remarkable resilience despite being isolated from essential services such as safe water, electricity, education, and healthcare.
Through the upcoming project Water Access for Vulnerable Ethnic Groups (WAVE), PRANTIC will work to ensure access to safe drinking water and foster social inclusion among this marginalized hilltop population.
PRANTIC gratefully acknowledges the generous commitment of Human Concern USA for funding this life-changing initiative. Together, we aim to transform challenges into opportunities—bringing dignity, inclusion, and hope to one of the most hard-to-reach communities in Ukhiya.
Stay connected with PRANTIC as we climb the hills—both literally and figuratively—to make change happen where it’s needed most.
